Help us raise our Accessibility Score!
What is YuJa Panorama, and how does it support accessibility?
YuJa Panorama is a digital accessibility tool integrated into learning management systems like Canvas. It scans course content, such as documents, uploaded files, and LMS-created pages, for accessibility issues, provides accessibility scores, offers remediation suggestions, and generates alternative formats for students with diverse needs.
How do I access Panorama within Canvas?
Access the tool via embedded icons or the course navigation menu. If you do not see Panorama as an option, you may need to enable it in Course Settings > Navigation.
What do the accessibility score icons mean?
Green (hexagon): High Accessibility
Yellow (triangle): Medium Issues
Red (pentagon): Poor Accessibility - Major or Severe Issues
Grey: Alternative formats are disabled or unavailable
Blue (circle): Student View
What alternative formats are available for students?
Source file, PDF, Text, Immersive Reader, Gradient Reader, EPUB
Braille, Audio Podcast, Enhanced HTML
OCR formats: Overlaid Tagged PDF, Reconstructed DOCX/PDF/HTML, Text, Audio
Math formats: LaTeX, Math Text (words), MP3 Audio, MathML
Which content types are scanned by Panorama?
Documents such as PDF, DOC/DOCX, PPT/PPTX, ODT, RTF, XLS/XLSX, HTML, and sometimes GIFs
LMS-native content like pages, discussions, announcements, quizzes (e.g., Canvas New Quizzes directions)
Note: Third-party content, course reserves, SCORM files, and external files outside the LMS are not scanned by Panorama
Why is my document still flagged even after remediation?
Videos: Panorama doesn’t auto-detect human-edited captions. You must manually verify captions in the video and mark issues as fixed; until then, they remain flagged
Publisher content: Panorama doesn’t fix third-party materials. The publisher must provide accessible versions
GIFs: Animated GIFs may be unsupported; convert them to a more accessible format
How long does it take for Panorama to scan new or uploaded content?
Processing time is not specified. If a file remains “unprocessed,” try re-uploading or contacting support.
What accessibility score should I aim for?
Focus on remediating major and severe issues first. Minor issues can be addressed over time. MCCCD has not specified a recommended Accessibility Score.
