A Syllabus is a required and important part of any course. It is the navigation, expectations, policies, first introduction to your course and an agreement between you and your students! For consistency, MCCCD has Administrative Regs that outline the requirements of your syllabus. This is one of many ways you can ensure your students know what is required of them throughout your course.
There are two very important regulations you should be aware of prior to your class starting:
The instructor must present a course syllabus to students during the first week of a class (before the end of drop/add).
A copy of the course syllabus must be submitted to the division/department office at the college no later than the end of the first week of class.
For your convenience, the CTLED has created syllabus templates below to help you create or modify your syllabus. The templates are a great way to streamline your syllabus, allowing the students to see the most important aspects of your course. Additionally, GateWay

In Spring 2025, GateWay started a pilot of Simple Syllabus. With the software currently available in Canvas for everyone, many have contacted CTLED to join the pilot group.
What is Simple Syllabus? A centralized, syllabus template management tool where educators can personalize and publish interactive class syllabi—directly within Canvas. These templates are compliant, accessible, and managed by CTLED.
