Raise the Standard
Raise the Standard
As you know from working in your PLCs, in order to pair resources to your lessons, you first need to unpack the standards. Use the excercise below to consider how a technology-infused product MAY (or may not) help assess student learning.
2 minutes
Review the unpacking and proficiency scale for the one of the upcoming standards for your grade level.
2 minutes
Take a moment to consider the following. On a paper assignment used as an artifact, what are the barriers or limitations to what a student could “show” because of the medium?
3 minutes
Create a “know” and “show” for the standard considering what tool might help a student express their understanding thoroughly.
To Tech or Not To Tech?
Consider the two questions from the 4 Shifts Protocol when creating tech-infused assignments. --->
Students are asked to show their thinking
Varied question types
Tech adds value to the task (i.e. recording)
DOK levels 2 and 3 represented
*Remember, you can use an already-created task as a starting point and modify it to add value!
Simple worksheets with no added value
Tasks below the rigor of the standard
Passive consumption of content
Repetitive tasks
Technology for the sake of technology
