12 September 2025: We are filled with gratitude for all First Responders and Public Safety Professionals of Allegany and Garrett Counties and all who joined us for our second annual Blue Mass in Oakland last night. We are blessed to have welcomed 70+ faithful at St. Peter the Apostle Church and we hope you will join us again next year!
Father Scott Kady, pastor @Divine Mercy in Allegany County: thank you for reminding of us to continue to pray for, and give thanks for, all who have devoted their lives of service to the protection and well-being of others, our communities and country.
For all who participated in our celebration of The Holy Eucharist including our amazing choir, thank you for your gifts and endless and joyful service to our Lord. And, we extend our heartfelt appreciation to our Ladies Auxiliary for hosting our potluck reception, and Fox’s Pizza in Oakland, Matt Novosel and our parishioners who contributed to our potluck reception.
Thank you to the Catholic Review for sharing our blessings

A Blue Mass is celebrated annually for those employed in the public safety industry, which includes police officers, firefighters, corrections officers and paramedics. The name comes from the traditional uniform color associated with law enforcement.
Today, we recognize, honor and wish to extend blessings upon all active-duty and retired first responders and their families, and remember all those who served and have gone before us. Please plan to join us and invite your family, colleagues and friends.
