Bereavement Support at St. Peter the Apostle Parish - Please call the office to confirm our gathering for December. Thank you.
The Bereavement Group at St. Peters has been in existence for more than 10 years. Meetings occur on the third Wednesday of the month at 10:30 a.m. in the classroom area of the Parish Center (lower level). We can also meet one-on-one by appointment.
The meeting is facilitated by Elaine Boyd, LCSW-C (Licensed Clinical Social Worker) who has more than 40 years’ experience working with clients with chronic illness dealing with death and loss. Loss is an extremely personal experience and at one time or another happens to us all: man/woman; young or old. It can be the loss of a spouse, a sibling a child or close friend.
Our attendees may not know each other when they first join our group, but they have shared experiences of sadness, loneliness, denial and depression. Holidays, anniversaries and birthdays can be challenge for us all. Having a safe place to discuss feelings with others who understand all too well what we are feeling, can be very self-affirming.
We also know that the journey would be much more of a challenge without our Christian faith. We believed that Christ has suffered and died for us and returned to Heaven to prepare an eternal place for us all.
Please consider joining us no matter where you are on your grief journey. For more information about our group or to ask any questions, please contact Elaine Boyd through our parish office.

Spread the Warmth – Oakland Oil
Did you know that we are a participating member of Oakland Oil & Propane's "Spread the Warmth" program? As our parishioner, your residential heating fuel purchases from Oakland Oil & Propane help us save money on our purchases. Please contact Oakland Oil & Propane and tell them you are a parishioner of St. Peter the Apostle Parish in Garrett County, Maryland, and we will receive a credit on our purchases from your purchases this winter. It's that easy and very helpful. Just send a quick email to info@oaklandoil.com or call 301-334-2678. Thank you for your consideration and support!
Our parish Hospitality and Safety Mission Team is seeking new members to fill a few critical responsibilities. The most pressing positions would ideally be filled by those with medical experience. Specifically, we need folks with current CPR/AED certifications and those who can help administer our parish’s AED program. We would like to have one or two trained medical personnel at each of our Masses, so please prayerfully consider if this could be an opportunity for you to serve our parish. If you are interested in joining this mission team or would simply like to discuss what's involved, please contact Dominic D’Ambrosi and Patrick O’Brien, mission team co-chairs, at hospitality@garrettstpeter.com.

Respect For All Life
Gifts for Life: The Respect for All Life Team is collecting items for the babies and mothers of The James Isaac House. If you would like to help with this ongoing outreach, you’ll find a rack next to the basement door inside the Oakland church to place items such as diapers, wipes, lotions, infant clothing, and even gifts for the new moms, when the church is open. Our team members will gather and deliver items to the James Isaac House on a regular basis. We will soon arrange for a drop-off location at the Lake Center, as well. Please watch for updates and thank you for supporting life in such a loving way.
Sponsored by the Evangelization Mission Team, our prayer league is one of many opportunities to deepen your relationship with Jesus Christ and experience His peace and joy by living a life of service in God's love. Our prayer league page is available here and open to everyone! Join us and grow closer to our Lord through prayer and spiritual reflections! There are no costs, meetings or specific time requirements involved. We only ask that you take a few minutes of quiet time to pray our petitions and for those who have asked for prayers.
