Where Your HSA Fundraising Dollars Go?
As we kick off another year of fundraising, we wanted to take a moment to share something that’s important to us: where the money raised by our GVES community actually goes.
The GVES HSA is a volunteer-run non-profit organization, and the funds we raise go right back into supporting our students, teachers, staff, and school. Last year, our community raised $58,506, while the HSA invested $92,684 back into GVES.
That support helped fund things like subsidized field trips for every grade, grade-level assemblies, teacher mini-grants, playground and outdoor improvements, classroom and school supplies, teacher and staff appreciation, student activities, and community events. It also supports programs families see throughout the year, including Mileage Club, Creative Oasis, Lunch Buddies, Book Fairs, School Stores, Field Day, and 5th Grade activities.
This year, one of our biggest fundraising priorities is teacher grants. Our teachers and staff are in the classrooms with our children every day, so we believe they are some of the best people to tell us where additional resources can make a difference. Grant requests that we are hoping to fulfill include flexible seating, standing desks, classroom tables, 3D printers, books and reading resources, additional classroom resources, PE and music equipment, library materials, sensory and calming tools, a new gaga pit, and student incentives.
These are extras that help make GVES an even better place for our kids and are made possible by our community’s support.
We also recognize that every family participates differently. Some families donate, some participate in fundraisers, some volunteer their time, some attend community events, and some simply help us spread the word. There is never an expectation that every family participate in every fundraiser. We are grateful for every form of support.
Our goal is simple: raise funds responsibly and thoughtfully, and use them to create opportunities and experiences that directly benefit GVES students.
Thank you for continuing to support our school, our teachers, and most importantly, our kids. We’re incredibly proud of what the GVES community makes possible together.
Scholastic Book Fair
The GVES Scholastic Book Fair is one of our favorite ways to celebrate reading! Students have the opportunity to shop a great selection of books and discover new stories, series, and topics that get them excited about reading.
The Book Fair is also a fundraiser for GVES! A portion of Book Fair sales comes back to our school, helping us support classroom libraries, literacy resources, and other HSA-funded programs and activities for our students.
Families can support the Book Fair by shopping with their students, setting up an eWallet for easy, cash-free shopping, purchasing books for teachers through classroom wish lists, or volunteering to help guide selections during the fair.
Box Tops for Education
Supporting GVES can be as easy as scanning your grocery receipt! Through the Box Tops for Education program, families can earn money for our school by purchasing participating products and submitting their receipts through the Box Tops app.
There’s no selling, collecting money, or extra cost to participate. Simply download the Box Tops app, select Garnet Valley Elementary School, and scan your eligible receipts after you shop. Box Tops automatically identifies participating products and credits the earnings to our school.
Those small amounts can really add up when our whole GVES community participates! It’s a simple, year-round way to help the HSA raise additional funds to support our students and school.
Dine & Donate Events
Take a night off from cooking and support GVES at the same time! Throughout the school year, the GVES HSA partners with local restaurants and businesses for Dine & Donate events, where a portion of participating sales is donated back to our school.
These events are an easy and fun way to support GVES while spending time with family and connecting with other members of our school community. Simply dine in, order takeout, or follow the specific instructions for each event, and your purchase can help raise money for GVES.
Watch for upcoming Dine & Donate dates and locations throughout the year. Grab dinner, enjoy a treat, and help us give back to our students and teachers.
Linvilla Pie Fundraiser
Just in time for the holidays, the GVES HSA Linvilla Pie Fundraiser is a delicious way to support our school! Families can order fresh pies from local favorite Linvilla Orchards while helping raise funds for the programs, activities, and resources the HSA provides throughout the year.
It’s an easy way to check dessert off your holiday to-do list while giving back to GVES at the same time. Stock up for your own celebrations or order a few to share with family and friends!
Order and pickup information will be shared with GVES families as the fundraiser approaches.
Minted Fundraiser
Shop for something you already need while giving back to GVES! Through our Minted fundraiser, GVES families can save on personalized stationery, holiday cards, invitations, photo gifts, and more while Minted gives a portion of each purchase back to the GVES HSA.
It’s an easy, year-round way to support our school with no additional cost to your family. Whether you’re ordering holiday cards, birthday invitations, thank-you notes, or personalized gifts, remember to use our GVES fundraising code at checkout.
Your purchase helps the HSA continue funding programs, activities, resources, and special experiences for our students and teachers. Shop, save, and support GVES at the same time.
Double Good Popcorn Fundraiser
Our Double Good Popcorn Fundraiser is a short and sweet way to support GVES — with some seriously delicious popcorn!
For just a few days, GVES families can create their own virtual pop-up shop and share it with family and friends. There’s no money to collect, no products to handle, and no deliveries to coordinate. Supporters order directly through your shop, and Double Good ships the popcorn right to their door.
A portion of every purchase comes back to the GVES HSA, helping us fund the programs, activities, resources, and special experiences we provide for our students and teachers throughout the year.
Our GVES community has had great success with this fundraiser in the past, and we’re excited to bring it back.
