Our fundraising events, activities, and committee endeavors benefit not only our Bethel Springs children but also strengthen our Garnet Valley community. We welcome your involvement and/or participation in any of these events!
Volunteering is fun and benefits everyone!
Cash Back Programs – Helping the school to raise money couldn’t be easier with our many Cash Back programs. These programs provide a great opportunity for working parents to help with HSA as nearly all of the tasks can be completed from home on your own schedule. These committees run year round with very minimal, if any, involvement in the summer.
Dining for Dollars - Take part in these easy fundraisers in which local eateries like Sweet Frog's or Chick-fil-A give the HSA a percentage of the proceeds from a predetermined day!
District Advisory Council - One representative from each grade at Bethel Springs meets quarterly with the superintendent to discuss issues that are specific to our building.
Family Fun Night (Bingo!) – This evening is one of our most popular events! Get your tickets early when you see the announcement for our annual Family Fun Night. The family evening activity is an opportunity to meet your child(ren)’s friends and their parents and enjoy bingo, food, fun and prizes.
Field Day – Few events are as popular with the children as Field Day! There is no end to the creativity of our Phys. Ed. teachers as they work with this committee to develop games that test the students ability to have fun and practice good sportsmanship .
Fifth Grade Send Off – Each year we must say good-bye to our 5th Graders as they head off to Middle School – but we do so with a wonderful evening celebration. The GVSD’s 5th Grade Send Off combines the GVES and our BSES classes and is held at a local pool club.
Fifth Grade Send Off Video - The members of this committee work closely with the Yearbook Committee in order to collect baby and group pictures of our 5th grade students. The pictures are integrated into a video which is shown at the 5th Grade Promotion Ceremony at the end of the year.
Fifth Grade Time Capsule - The committee collects and organizes information from parents and 5th graders to be stored until Post Prom Senior Year.
Focused Fall Fundraiser – In order to avoid "fundraising fatigue," the HSA has decided to focus its efforts on one major fundraiser per season. This fall's fundraiser will be the Charleston Wrap's Double Catalog Program which will include the Kitchen and Home catalog and the Merry Gift Wrap Guide.
Jaguar Color Dash - In the spring, students gather pledges and participate in a school-wide Color Dash. Other fun activities are included in the event! This is our largest fundraiser!
Nature Trail - Sign up your family to care for the BSES Nature Trail for a week!
Oasis Fun Night - Come on out to one or both of Bethel Springs' Oasis Fun Nights - a portion of the proceeds goes directly to the HSA!
Parent Social Event - Get to know your fellow Bethel Springs parents at this just for fun parents night out!
Picture Day Volunteers - School pictures are taken in the fall (late September/early October). This committee organizes volunteers to collect the children from their classrooms, bring them to the LGI room for photos and return them to the proper classroom. Might be as simple as it sounds! It is a wonderful way to see all of the smiling faces of BSES children.
Pretzel Sale Committee - On select Fridays, volunteers sell pretzels to benefit the HSA and a chosen charity.
Scholastic Book Fair - Our annual Book Fair is a three to four day event held in November, usually during American Education Week. The committee works with Scholastic Books and transforms the gym into a big Book Store with selections for every member of the family. Children have the opportunity to shop for books with their classmates during the day and there is always an evening opening as well to accommodate parents’ hectic schedules. There are opportunities to purchase books for personal use and for donation to the library or to a student’s teacher(s).
School Beautification - As the seasons and holiday themes change, so does the look of BSES inside and out. This committee plans and organizes the school entrance and lobby decorations for fall, winter, and spring and will also assist with small gardening projects.
Snowball Winterfest - Students in grades 3-5 enjoy a fun night out every January with a special someone! Our BSES gym is turned into a winter wonderland with a DJ, decorations, fun games and activities, and snacks!
Spiritwear -We wear our school colors proudly - Garnet and White! The first Friday of the month is school spirit day and children are encouraged to wear their school colors. The Spiritwear committee selects, orders, promotes, and organizes volunteers to sell BSES and Garnet Valley Jaguar school spiritwear throughout the school year. The selection and ordering begins in the summer with sales starting at the Open House.
Teacher and Staff Appreciation - As we near the end of each school year, it is so important to let our teachers and staff know how much we appreciate all that they do. We dedicate an entire week to do special things throughout each day such as providing breakfast or lunch, special snacks, giving flowers, or conducting daily draw prizes. Even though the event is in May, the committee begins planning in March and is very involved each day throughout the week.
Trunk or Treat - Celebrate Halloween at Bethel Springs with an evening of contests (trunk decorating, pumpkin decorating, and scavenger hunt), awesome prizes donated by local businesses, food for purchase, and last, but not least, trick or treating!
Yearbook - Yearbooks are something we treasure more and more throughout the years. We are so lucky to have a team of committed volunteers to produce a yearbook for our elementary school! Members of this committee are present at all BSES events throughout the school year gathering pictures. They create the pages and collect written information, organize sales, and complete distribution at the end of the year – this committee is a great fit for those who have an interest in photography!
Community Service Projects – Community service projects provide an opportunity to foster good citizenship among our children while giving back to the community. Last spring, the students, teachers, and staff participated in the BSES Awareness Walk in which participants wore t-shirts or carried signs representing their non-profit of choice. We also host Coin Wars every January to benefit the Ronald McDonald House! The past 3 years we have raised $30,000 and all three years we have been able to adopt a room at the house, which provides a rolling sponsorship for one room at the house for an entire year! We have signage with our sponsorship outside our adopted rooms, our name listed on the donor wall in the house living room, and our name on their website, Impact Report and social media platforms!
