Texas 2x2 & More Book Program

TEXAS 2x2 & More READING PROGRAM: (1st-2nd graders)

DUE JANUARY 23, 2026!

1st-2nd graders have the choice of participating is the Texas 2x2 & More Reading Program.  All students must have a parent or teacher signature for each book they read.  The form will be due to the library by January 23, 2026.  The books on the list are from the Texas 2x2 book list and other nominees. (see www.txla.org/groups/2x2-current)  

Reading Stars…  What Can You Earn?  (The cookie party, movie party, and field trip may be substituted for prizes depending on the social distancing requirements.)

•         5 or more completed: Vote for your favorite book

•        10 or more completed: Prize & Cookies

•        15 or more completed: Your picture on the bulletin board

•        20 or more completed: 

          1st grade: outdoor recess and popsicle party

          2nd grade: Pizza & Game Party starting in 2025-2026

Dorsey has 2 copies of each book.  Students may put the books on hold (up to 3 holds at a time).  They may also check them out from the public library.  

Putting a Book on Hold:

§  Log in to ReadyHub

§  Click on Library (You may also find a link to the library catalog on the Dorsey school website https://www.garlandisdschools.net/dorsey/academics/library  Scroll down until you find the green book & click on the blue hyperlink in the text.)

§  Click on Dorsey Elementary School

§  Click on the right side, Log in using your ID# (lunch # or 's' # without the s (username) & gisd (password)

§  Go to CATALOG (Basic Search)

§  Look up name of book

§  Click on the title or on the Details box of the book you want (by title)

§  Click Hold it (upper right hand corner of page)

§  Go to My Info to see your holds and the books you currently have checked out.  PENDING means your hold is not ready.
