Bluebonnet Book Program

BLUEBONNET BOOK READING PROGRAM: (3rd-5th graders) 

DUE JANUARY 23, 2026

All students (grades 3-5) are required to read 5 to vote.  This is a statewide program.

Requirements: teacher’s or parent’s signature for each book read

•  5 or more completed: Vote on favorite book

• 10 or more completed: individual photo w/ favorite Bluebonnet book & ice cream treat

• For Pizza & Game Party

3rd grade: 13 or more 

4th grade: 15 or more

5th grade: 18 or more

• 20 completed: Choice of $10 book or less from the February book fair

Dorsey has 2 copies of each book.  Students may put the books on hold (up to 3 books at a time).  They may also check them out from the public library.

Putting a Book on Hold:

§  Log in to ReadyHub

§  Click on Library (You may also find a link to the library catalog on the Dorsey school website https://www.garlandisdschools.net/dorsey/academics/library  Scroll down until you find the green book & click on the blue hyperlink in the text.)

§  Click on Dorsey Elementary School

§  Click on the right side, Log in using your ID# (lunch # or 's' # without the s (username) & gisd (password)

§  Go to CATALOG (Basic Search)

§  Look up name of book

§  Click on the title or on the Details box of the book you want (by title)

§  Click Hold it (upper right hand corner of page)

§  Go to My Info to see your holds and the books you currently have checked out.  PENDING means your hold is not ready.
