No, unfortunately, course names within Canvas can no longer be edited due to issues it caused with our Skyward synced courses.
If you need to change the name of a manually-created course please complete the following steps:
Conclude the previous course (especially if there are students enrolled)
Use the Import Course Content tool to move items over from the previous course
Add students or teachers based on the activity within the course
No, unfortunately, this was a setting that was updated, and we are no longer able to allow this for manually created courses.
We encourage that all manually created courses are concluded at the end of the year/term, then the teacher can make a copy for the next school year. Concluding a course will remove the course from a student’s Dashboard who no longer needs access and will not remove any data on the teacher end, such as communication logs and resources shared. This also allows the teacher(s) of the course to decide what previous students would or would not be able to access from the course.
Teachers are able to ‘start fresh’ with a new course, import the items needed, and enroll the correct students for the new school year.

🔗 How to Create a Course in Canvas
Each user gets to decide which courses show on their Dashboard within Canvas. New enrollments or a change in term/semester can cause courses to 'disappear' from your dashboard - which can cause panic!
To fix this complete the following steps:
Click on Course within the Global Navigation (maroon bar on the left)
Click on All Courses
Click the STAR next to the courses you would like to show on your Dashboard. Any star that is filled in will be on your Dashboard.
You can rearrange the order of courses within your Dashboard as well but clicking and dragging the course cards to a specific location or using the 3 dots in the top right of each course card.
Please note that usually 10 courses can be housed on your Dashboard at a time.
