Learning Logs are a record of a student's learning and progress in a particular subject, such as this example from Bree Cunningham's reading class. Learning Logs can be used as a reflection, in conjunction with notetaking, or as a way to respond to questions. If you have not yet completed a Learning Log in your class, please do so prior to the end of August and add it to the WICOR TeamDrive. Thank you for supporting AVID school-wide!
Teachers were asked to submit an example of a Learning Log from their classroom. This example is from Brittany McCue's class and shows how students can record their learning and progress around a topic. Thank you to all the teachers who added to our WICOR Team Drive. Your help is greatly appreciated!
Amy Dunphy incorporated inquiry and collaboration by having students analyze in small groups and then present to the entire classroom. This type of student engagement allows for in-depth conversations and presentation practice.
"Students were asked to analyze 2 cards with random objects on it. They had to collaborate with their tablemates in order to develop a new product of their own invention with the 2 cards. After the timer was up, students had to present the design to the class, using what they just learned about elevator pitches."
In October teachers were asked to submit evidence of either the use of the planner in their classroom or a graphic organizer activity. Thank you to Cindy Medina for her planner evidence and Maria Montero for her beautiful example of a graphic organizer over Cesar Chavez. If you have not added one of these October strategies to the WICOR Team Drive, please do so by the end of the month. Thank you for your continued support of AVID!
