AVID Impact Day

We are excited to announce that on Friday, February 21, 2025, middle and high school teachers district-wide are invited to participate in the first annual GISD AVID Impact Day!

This special day will honor the outstanding work of GISD educators who implement AVID WICOR (Writing to Learn, Inquiry, Collaboration, Organization, and Reading to Learn) practices and strategies, enhancing student engagement, fostering rigor, and promoting success in the classroom. Your involvement in showcasing the impact of these practices will help highlight the dedication and excellence within our secondary schools. 

Show your school spirit, make your impact, and be part of this exciting event!

How to participate:

1. Register your classroom for the GISD AVID Impact Day by Feb. 7. 

2. Post the AVID Impact Participation Sign outside your door before 2/21. These will be delivered to the campus for you to complete during the week of the 10th. 

3. Implement WICOR practices in your lessons on 2/21. 

4. Capture an action photo and post on social media. — Tag your campus, @gisdnews, @AVIDGISD using #GISDAVIDImpactDay on social media.
