WHAT: PRIME to First Credential Transition & Scholarship Info for 2026 Grads
The PRIME program is transitioning to the First Credential program following the passage of HB260, which took effect on July 1, 2025. A master plan is currently in development and expected to be finalized by November 2025. More updates will be shared as they become available.
What This Means for 2026 Graduates: The scholarship requirements and application process will remain the same for the class of 2026:
Submit an online application (published by USHE)
Complete the 2026/27 FAFSA (opt out for an approved reason)
Complete one of the following high school experiences:
5 general education concurrent enrollment courses (each in a different GE category), OR
At least 6 courses or 300 hours in a CTE program at a Utah technical college, OR
A youth apprenticeship
Meet all application deadlines
Enroll full-time at an eligible institution or submit documentation of an approved deferral from an eligible institution starting the fall after high school graduation.
Scholarship Application Timeline:
Part 1: Jan 5 – Mar 20 (priority deadline: Jan 23)
All students must complete part 1 to be considered for the scholarship
Part 2: Spring follow-up for eligible students to confirm fall 2026 plans
Looking Ahead to the Class of 2027: Eligibility and scholarship requirements for future graduates will align with the First Credential master plan. We’ll share updates once the plan is approved.
