Cornell Notes
Students will be required to take Cornell Notes throughout each chapter. Each section of Cornell Notes will be scored as followed:
0: didn't attempt
1: student has the left side, on the right side they only have a definition or an example, and no summary
2: student has the left side, on the right side they have a definition and an example, and no summary
3: student has the left side, on the right side they only have a definition or an example, and have a summary
4: student has the left side, on the right side they have a definition and an example, and they have a summary
Summary: When writing the summary the student should be thinking about how to describe what they learned to a younger student. Just saying “Today we learned about parallel and perpendicular lines” is not acceptable. Instead a good summary may be something like, “Parallel lines are like railroad tracks, they never cross each other. Perpendicular lines are like a T.”
