The meeting includes the student's parents, a special education teacher, a general education teacher, a psychologist, and when appropriate the student. The team may include additional members, as needed.
The team reviews the student's performance, current goals, accommodations, and services to make any changes for the upcoming school year.
Yes. Parents are valued members for the IEP team. They are encouraged to share their input which will then be discussed by the team.
If a student no longer qualifies for special education services, the team will develop a declassification plan for the child.
A re-evaluation is a more comprehensive assessment of the student's overall needs and eligibility for special education services. It may include formal testing, while the annual review focuses more on goal progress and adjustments to the IEP.
