Through engaging in our productions, students have the opportunity to experience the entire process of bringing a play to life on stage. At the heart of the Productions Programme is our desire to support the personal growth of students and enable them to reach their full potential in either an on-stage or off-stage role. Our productions are about the community of individuals involved, collaboratively working towards a common goal, but also about the influence and message of the human condition that can be conveyed through our productions to our wider UWCSEA community.
Every year, we strive to stage culturally diverse scripts that tell a range of stories to help us find connection with our place in the world and we endeavour to ground them in a context that connects with our community and our UWCSEA mission.

Studio Performances are showcased in our Drama Studios. Students will collaborate together to devise an original piece based on a prompt given to them, supervised and guided by the MS Drama team. This experience will allow you to build drama skills, perform in front of an audience of parents and friends and connect with other drama students.
All students must audition to be part of the cast. Auditions are held prior to the start of Season 1. Information can be found in the weekly announcement slides for students.

Each school year, High School Drama offers opportunities to Grade 9 to 12 students to participate in either student-directed productions or our annual High School Productions directed by our HS Drama Teachers.
The Student Theatre Festival is very special as it is completely student-run - from the directors to the cast and crew. It is a great chance for HS students to learn production elements, leadership and management skills, and learn how to use performance as a platform to create change and speak about social or world issues that are close to their hearts based on the scripts they choose to do.
** IBDP theatre students interested to be a Director can speak to our HS Drama Teachers to express their interest early on.

This yearly Production is directed by the HS Drama Teachers and students participating in it will get exposure to performance-making, character embodiment, creative design, and more. They range from Shakespeare to Verbatim shows and every 2-3 years a musical. Backstage roles in productions (Stage Management, Lighting, Sound, Costume and Makeup, Set and Props) are also available to students and students participating in a Tech Role can pick up practical skills and learn what goes on behind-the-scenes for every show.
