Throughout the year, parents have several opportunities to learn about the progress their child is making in school. Some of these communication methods are face to face while others are electronic. Below you will find a description of the ways we keep parents informed of the learning happening at school.
PARENT - TEACHER CONFERENCE
Throughout the year, parents will be invited to meet with their child’s teachers on several occasions. There are opportunities to meet specialist teachers, classroom teachers and in Grade 4 and 5 Maths teachers as well. These meetings provide an opportunity for teachers and parents to discuss the child’s progress at school on a one to one basis.
STUDENT LED CONFERENCE
In the third term, parents are invited to take part in the Student Led Conference. The purpose of the Student Led Conferences is to provide parents with a window into their child’s life in the classroom. Student Led Conferences provide the opportunity for children to show what they have learned and to celebrate the progress they have made since the beginning of the year. As the name suggests, students will lead parents through the learning they have done since the start of the year. Student Led Conferences aim to provide parents with a better understanding of their child’s learning and a chance to be actively involved in the reflection and goal setting process.

LEARNING JOURNALS
Learning Journals are an electronic collection of student work. They represent the learning that has taken place in the classrooms throughout the year and replace the paper portfolio that students previously collated. These are shared with parents several times within the year and allow parents to see the type of work students are completing at school.

REPORTS
Report cards are sent home to parents twice each academic year. The Progress Report is sent home with students at the end of the first term. This report allows parents to see where their child is performing in relation to the Grade Level Benchmarks.
The Final Report is sent home in June and allows parents to see how their child has fared for the remainder of the year in relation to the Grade Level Benchmarks.
