As a result of our conversations with our partners, we highlighted the need for a greater amount of awareness. We decided to create an application that would aim to educate people around us as well as provide them with an experience through the eyes of someone who has lived through these incidents. Our aim with this application was to create an experience through which our users would understand the reality of the hardships an FDW or Migrant Worker might face on their journey here and their life here as a worker by being in their very shoes.
Working alongside 'Coding for Good', a school service with a mission to use their passion and skills to assist NGOs and the school with their technical needs, we formulated this prototype which we will continue to work on alongside our partners. We used the Language Java Script and HTML when coding. Attached to the left is the template of our code that we wrote.
Inspired by various games, we decided to make an interactive simulation to satisfy, not only the engaging aspect of the game but also the educational aspect. Through various stories, case studies, real-life incidents, facts, and quotes, we hope to promote conversations between people of all ages to understand the troubling dilemma that faces our society today.
We addressed the 'Coding for Good' service with the following presentation to assist us in areas where we lacked the skills to produce an application as complex as this. Although we were only able to come up with a prototype with the limited time we had, we managed to gain some feedback on it from some of our classmates who tried it out which we will take into account for future improvements. We believe that we have created a foundation on top of which a new, better, and more interactive app designed better for this purpose can be built.
