Who am I?
Your identity is all the things that make you you.
It can include your personality, interests, culture, family, beliefs, gender, sexuality, background and experiences.
You might feel like you know exactly who you are, or you might still be figuring things out. Both are completely okay.
As you grow and experience new things, you might have questions about yourself:
Who am I?
Where do I fit in?
What matters to me?
How do I want others to see me?
You don't need to have all the answers. Your identity is personal to you, and it's okay if it changes over time.
You have the right to be yourself and to be treated with respect.
Other people may have different identities, backgrounds and experiences. We don't have to agree on everything, but we should listen, avoid making assumptions and, most of all treat people with kindness!
Use these resources to explore who you are, ask questions, or start a conversation. You don’t need to have all the answers. Figuring out who you are takes time, and that’s okay.
If you’re unsure, worried or just want someone to talk to, your Link Tutor, Progress Tutor and Student Support Team are here to listen and support you. You can also email support@suffolk.ac.uk or visit the Student Support Office during college hours.
You've got this – and we've got you!
