A job interview can take a numbers of forms including one-to-one discussions, an interview panel, or a group interview with other applicants. Telephone and video interviews are also now widely used.
Some interviews involve tests which would be specific to the job role, presentations or trade tests.
Preparation is key:
Do your research about the organisation, What they do?, What are their values? Who are their competitors? Knowing a little about the company will show you have a genuine interest in what they do and have the initiative to carry out research.
The job role:
Always read the job description carefully, as this will help you to see exactly what the employers is looking for, ie, skills, knowledge, and grades. Also Refer to your personal statement to help you to tailor your answers to meet requirements.
Plan and organise:
Make a list of the selection criteria.
Prepare an additional list of your key skills, examples of work experience and your attributes as evidence.
Practice your 3-5 key selling points for this job.
Ensure you prepare a few questions to ask the interviewer at the end.

Prior to interview:
Plan what to wear, for an interview this needs to be smart and formal to create a professional image, and how important the job is to you. Ensure your outfit is clean, fits and you feel comfortable.
Travel - Check to location and how you will get there, via car public transport, how long will it take? Is their parking nearby or how far form the bus stop or station. Do a trial run just in case of obstacles eg, road works or diversions.
Documents:
Put together a folder including your certificates, qualifications and CV as well as ID.
Go over your research to get it clear in your mind.
Get a good nights sleep
On the day of the interview:
If your interview is on a remote platform, check access and set up the day before giving you time to resolve any technical issue, you could ask a friend to meet with you remotely to ensure all is working.
Consider your background and that this is appropriate for interview. Ensure that you those who live with are ware of your interview time so that there are not distractions.
You have done all your preparation ready for your interview now it is time to shine.
Plan to arrive 15 minutes early that way you can sit and go over any points or practice responses, this also creates a good impression.
It is natural to feel nervous so give yourself time to sit and relax will help, ensure you are hydrated.
Ensure you switch off your phone.
Relax and breathe and take your time when answering a question, don't be afraid to ask the interviewer to repeat a question.

Speak clearly and slowly
Think about your answers before responding
Pausing for thought is good
Think of the interview as a conversation, not an interrogations, remember interviewers are human and will understand that you are nervous and may make a mistake - Don't worry.
