In the run up to Christmas, the Motion Graphics team have been working on a collaborative 'Class Showreel' that brings together all of their unique styles and strengths. The group decided on the idea of a growing tree that they each contributed work towards, but in in very different styles. The finished piece combines 2D After Effects compositing, digital illustration, frame-by-frame drawing, pixel art, and photographed stop-motion animation. Almost everything on screen is a hand-drawn asset, or heavily edited photograph.
Earlier in the term, our second year students flexed their creative muscles by planning and creating animated title sequences for their own fantasy films and TV shows. It was apparent early on that we had lots of different styles and tastes in the group, ranging from frame-by-frame animators, to motion graphics and typography specialists, to compositors mixing titles and live action footage.
Emily went to a lot of trouble to recreate the vintage look and feel of 80s sitcoms, such as "Only Fools and Horses". Some very strong design work in this piece and lots of green screen keying!
Roan decided to create a frame-by-frame animated title sequence for his growing media empire of flash-era-inspired animations. Lots of character in this fast-paced short.
Paige put in some painstaking work to create her creepy dribbling blood effects, giving this horror title sequence a stylish but disturbing feel!
Ollie created this stylish opening sequence to his music video production website - filming a model against a greenscreen and heavily altering the image.
Tom's title sequence is a meme-inspired parody of openings from American sitcoms, crossing Marvel superheroes with ordinairy, suburban America.
