Meeting the Mental Health Needs of All Students
"Professional school counselors do not provide long-term therapy in schools....however, they must be prepared to recognize and respond to student mental health crises and needs and to address these barriers to student success by offering education, prevention, and crisis and short-term intervention until the student is connected with available community resources"
(American School Counselor Association, 2009, p. 1).
Community Based Mental Health Providers
There are many local counselors and therapists with varying specialties and age ranges in their practice. Mrs. Pritzl can provide you contact information for several community-based mental health providers in the community. Your child's pediatrician may have other recommendations as well.
