If your child is squeaking on the recorder, the recorder is not broken it is one of two issues.  They are either blowing too hard or they are not covering the holes completely.  Encourage your child to blow softer (like they are trying to make a candle flame flicker, but not go out) and to make a complete seal on each of the finger holes.  If they are doing both correctly, that should solve the squeaking issue.

Chippewa provides one Chippewa blue recorder to each student.  If your child's recorder gets lost or breaks, another recorder can be purchased for $4.50.  Have your child bring $4.50 to the office for a replacement recorder.

At the end of the semester, we will be having a recorder concert.  After your child is finished with music for the year, I will be collecting the recorders and will hold on to them until they have music again in fourth grade.  This way, recorders will not be lost while your child waits to take music in fourth grade. 🙂
