SIXTH GRADE

In sixth grade, students can choose between three different music classes.  During the first few weeks of school, students will have the opportunity to change their music special if they choose to do so.

***All that is needed to change music specials is a written note or email from
a parent/guardian to the school***

Students have two weeks to make a change before their schedule is locked for the school year.  If the student has the desire to change music specials after the cut off time, they will have the opportunity to do so at the start of 7th grade.

GENERAL MUSIC

In general music, students will be learning music terminology, music history, to play the ukulele, and world music.  There will be no after school concerts.

Mrs. Madonna teachers general music.

BAND

Students who are interested in playing an instrument should join band.  The instruments for fifth grade are: flute, clarinet, saxophone, trumpet, trombone, and percussion.  There will be after school concerts.

Mr. Hann teaches band.

CHOIR

Students who enjoy singing should join choir.  Students will learn solfege, proper singing technique and sing a variety of songs from different musical eras.  There will be after school concerts.

Mrs. Knight teaches choir.

BAND & CHOIR

If a student cannot decide between band or choir, they can take both.  Students will alternate days between the two different music classes.  Students who choose this option will attend after school concerts for both classes.
