Hello Everyone,
With the 2021-2022 school year behind us, our Operational Transformation team has been busy supporting the implementation of Workday, expanding ServiceNow functions, and getting ready for go-live Sept 26th. Yes, I said Sept 26th! Less than 90 days to go-live.
What does this mean - there will be lots of new information, updates, learning opportunities, and resources coming. We have been intentional about working behind the scenes with many different stakeholders to prepare our new Financial and HR systems for readiness, learning, and deployment.
With this - I would like to stress the following -
1. Our team of nearly 140 people (which includes our Gallaudet Colleagues and consulting partners are working around the clock to ensure we make the Sept 26th Go-Live)
2. Between now and October - we will be deploying communications and learning through several different channels - email, MyGU, department meetings, and other community sessions.
The information we share, (frequency, amount, and complexity) will seem at first overwhelming. Some may ask, why can't we do training and learn this information months ago. A few points:
As we design, build and test our new platforms - we want to show what the GU system will look like - using our own data, sharing with you when it is ready to provide an optimal experience.
As we learn new systems and processes - the closer learning is timed to go-live - the easier it is for people to absorb and remember
Some process changes wouldn’t make sense without the systems in place to support them.
3. Will we stop improving Finance and HR after Sept 26th?
Absolutely not. We will continue to improve, enhance, and leverage the functionality that Workday has to offer us - some examples of improvements we will see later are:
more Accounts Payables Automation, tuition reimbursement ease, and learning for annual compliance directly in Workday.
Improvements to your experience immediately after go-live? Expanded ServiceNow functionality will allow a more streamlined, user friendly interactions with HR and eventually finance functions. You will have easy access to knowledge base articles for frequently asked questions, and the ability to submit a ticket for others.
Workday will provide real-time data, which will improve budgeting, decision making and reporting capabilities directly in the system based on each of your user role, profile and security settings. Time and Absence management will become much simpler, and more visible into the approval process.
4. Once these core functions of Workday are up and running smoothly, we will have already started on the next big addition: Workday Student, launching before Fall Semester 2024!
So while we are expanding our capabilities and technology to improve the overall Gallaudet Experience, I would like everyone to think about what we are doing to support the GU Experience.
