Dear KG families,
As we look ahead to week six, we reflect on how far the KG students have come since their first day of school. Routines have been established and they are continuing to work on building their social and communication skills. At the end of October, transition reports will be uploaded on SeeSaw and will give you an opportunity to see your child’s progress.
KG2 will begin their community share next week. It is a wonderful opportunity to watch the students get on stage and share their learning with parents. We will continue with our community share until Winter Break. Thank you for joining us to celebrate our students and their learning!
Swimming is due to begin the end of October. Thank you to all of the parents who have already offered to support and help with changing routines. We encourage moms to join us in helping students while changing and we truly appreciate it!
The Kindergarten teachers were really excited to have worked alongside our BML consultant, Francesca McGeary last week. This professional development enables us to adapt and grow our program and continue to build on the enriching and engaging learning opportunities here in KG. Please scroll down for video of the presentation.
Wishing you all a restful and enjoyable weekend!
Warmest Regards,
Niamh Callanan

Our KG PE lessons have been all about getting our KG students active. During week 1, we started each of our lesson by reading a book all about sports, getting us talking about what PE is and what some of the things we have to look forward to this year during our PE lessons. Our favourite book was “Keep Running Gingerbread Man”, we read this and then went for a run across the field to see if we could ‘catch’ our own gingerbread men. During week 2, we have started to learn about taking turns and also using our bodies to create different movements – we did this with some animal movement cards.
We are having great fun in PE at the moment in our Individual Pursuits Unit. We are exploring many fundamental movements and we are discovering how we can move our bodies in different ways. We are having lots of fun hopping, jumping, running, bouncing balls and playing with bean bags. We are keeping fit and healthy with all of our exercise.
We are settling in very well here in KG1B! We have been very busy learning the classroom rules and routines and having plenty of fun along the way! Last week we learned all about fire drills and the steps we need to take in case there is a fire in our school. On Monday we had our first successful fire drill and earned our super fire safety expert hats. Here are some pictures of our first weeks in school.
We have kicked off our first unit of inquiry in KG2! Students have loved sharing about their family’s cultures and traditions with the class. We have studied flags from around the world, talked about our favorite foods, and watched some amazing dance performances! Our half-day Thursday celebration allowed students to show their beautiful cultural dress and colors. Our unit is off to a great start!
