Dear GAA families,
It was so great to see so many of you virtually for parent conferences this week. Thank you for meeting with teachers and collaborating with them to set goals for this semester. A big shout out to our Library team for arranging Dr. Seuss week this week. The hats, socks and costumes were wonderful and added so much fun to our week! The librarians were busy getting into classrooms with their ‘Talabooks’ delivery and having some really engaging read aloud with students. Thank you!
Kindergarten students have delved deep into their inquiry on ‘How We Express Ourselves’. KG1 have been focusing focus on emotions and KG2 have been exploring expression through stories. We have missed seeing you in the hallways and getting to see all of the wonderful learning happening in school. Here are some pictures of learning highlights over the last few weeks. Our boards are full and it has been wonderful to see students’ progress.
Have a safe and restful weekend ahead!

KG Vice Principal
We remind parents of our safety protocols with regards to COVID-19:
Notify school immediately by calling GAA's COVID-19 Hotline at 052 1048099 to enable us to activate appropriate response. Or email: pre_gaa@gemsedu.com
Keep your child and other GAA siblings isolated at home for at least 10 days and follow the instructions of Health Authorities.
Distance Learning will be enabled for your child.
Child will be cleared to return to school once they have 2 consecutive negative test results, submitting doctor's note and results to the school nurse.
Positive case: They must show a Clearance Report from SEHA or their Health Care Provider confirming they are clear to return to school. This report shows the high-level history of the case including date confirmed positive, the 2 negative results and that the patient has completed the isolation period.
Contacts of the positive case: contacts must continue their 10 day home quarantine, even if they test negative, and are only allowed back in school after receiving 2 consecutive negative test results (approximately day 1 and day 8 testing).
We thank you for your continuous support.
Hello from KG1D, We have loved being back at school, seeing our friends and getting back into routine. We have thoroughly enjoyed our different fine motor activities every morning. In Literacy we have been learning about letters and letter sounds and making wonderful letter art. We have also been learning to write our names. Poppy Visited us this week and we taught her how to write her name. In Math we have been Learning about Numbers and Patterns, we even created our own ABC Pattern .
Our Unit of inquiry this Term is “How we express ourselves”. KG1D inquired into Joy and the different things that make us happy.
The highlight of our week was getting to dress up every day for our Dr Seuss Birthday Week.
Congratulations to Alia and Abdulla for their efforts during Distance Learning!
We have had so much fun learning in KG2D. We used pictures, movement, puppets, and painting to tell stories. We found sight words all around our classroom. We also enjoyed dressing up as our favorite Dr. Seuss characters.
In KG1 during Arabic, the students have had the opportunity to listen to stories, learn new words. They were all very excited about learning new Arabic letters every week and singing a song about it and playing games. Our little learners were risk takers.
In KG2 during Arabic, we have been exploring letters and words. We have even been reading words of three letters. We are inquiring into how letters with long and short vowel sounds can make words. Students will learn elements of the story by reading , retelling and drawing a story showing ( characters setting and events of the story ) We are communicators. We are having a wonderful time!!!
Dear GAA Community,
Thank you for all the videos in mother tongue! Here are the compilations:
We can all agree that this year is very unique and our lives are very different than before.
The 2020/2021 yearbook will have a very personal feel to it and will capture the craziness of this school year.
Due to safety restrictions and considering that number of our students are still on full distance learning, we will not have Stu Williamson take student formal photos at school this year. In case things change, we may schedule the photoshoot for March 2021.
This is where we need our Parents and Students' help:
For KG/Elementary, we ask that parents send a recent picture of their child doing anything they like, eating, playing, exercising... clear face and good lighting.
For MS/HS, we ask that students send us a selfie, that can be funny but appropriate.
Homeroom and advisory teachers will reach out to their students/parents shortly with details. We hope to get the photos before the Winter Break.
Let's make a delicious lemonade out of the lemons, so generously given by 2020!
