Dear GAA Community,
We had a great two days of Parent Conferences! Thank you to everyone who took the time to chat with your child’s teacher and get caught up on his/her progress and goals for the last four months of the school year.
Please be reminded of these few notes:
We have parents and nannies coming well before 1:45 to collect children at the end of the day. Teachers do not start dismissing students before 1:45. As it is getting hotter each day and for your own health, please do not arrive and expect children to come down before this time.
On March 11, we have a PYP Exhibition Information Session for Grade 5 parents at 9am. Please see information in this edition of the GAAzete.
On March 25, the Elementary Performing Arts students (4th and 5th grade) present “The Big One-Oh” A Zoomsical. The children and our wonderful team of educators have spent so much time preparing and this is not an event to miss! You can find information on how to purchase tickets and support the Arts at GAA in this edition of the GAAzette. he show will be broadcast on March 25th at 6:00p.m.

We remind parents of our safety protocols with regards to COVID-19:
Notify school immediately by calling GAA's COVID-19 Hotline at 052 1048099 to enable us to activate appropriate response. Or email: pre_gaa@gemsedu.com
Keep your child and other GAA siblings isolated at home for at least 10 days and follow the instructions of Health Authorities.
Distance Learning will be enabled for your child.
Child will be cleared to return to school once they have 2 consecutive negative test results, submitting doctor's note and results to the school nurse.
Positive case: They must show a Clearance Report from SEHA or their Health Care Provider confirming they are clear to return to school. This report shows the high-level history of the case including date confirmed positive, the 2 negative results and that the patient has completed the isolation period.
Contacts of the positive case: contacts must continue their 10 day home quarantine, even if they test negative, and are only allowed back in school after receiving 2 consecutive negative test results (approximately day 1 and day 8 testing).
We thank you for your continuous support.
The PBIS committee has put together a Monthly Learner Profile Shout-Out “contest”.
Each month, we will prioritize two of the PYP Learner Profile Attributes. Students who are nominated by teachers, EA’s and specialists will receive a certificate. Students who have gone above and beyond will also receive a special shout-out.
The Elementary Performing Arts students (4th and 5th grade) present “The Big One-Oh” A Zoomsical.
Come meet Charley and his imaginary friends! Will he be able to pull off the birthday of his dreams? Come join us and find out!
The show will be broadcast on March 25th at 6:00p.m. Tickets go on sale March 14th. They will be 10AED. More information to come!
Congratulations to Maeesha, Naomi and Amna for showing IB Learner Profile Attributes!
This week, KG and Elementary students celebrated books and reading with some dress up days! Crazy Hat Day to go along with The Cat in the Hat, Silly Socks Day to go along with Fox in Socks, and finally Dr Seuss Character Dress Up Day, celebrating Dr. Seuss’s birthday! Thank you to all who participated in our reading events!

Dear GAA Community,
Thank you for all the videos in mother tongue! Here are the compilations:
We can all agree that this year is very unique and our lives are very different than before.
The 2020/2021 yearbook will have a very personal feel to it and will capture the craziness of this school year.
Due to safety restrictions and considering that number of our students are still on full distance learning, we will not have Stu Williamson take student formal photos at school this year. In case things change, we may schedule the photoshoot for March 2021.
This is where we need our Parents and Students' help:
For KG/Elementary, we ask that parents send a recent picture of their child doing anything they like, eating, playing, exercising... clear face and good lighting.
For MS/HS, we ask that students send us a selfie, that can be funny but appropriate.
Homeroom and advisory teachers will reach out to their students/parents shortly with details. We hope to get the photos before the Winter Break.
Let's make a delicious lemonade out of the lemons, so generously given by 2020!
