Dear KG Families,
First and foremost, thank you for your support and collaboration as students have moved to distance learning for these two weeks. It is in moments like these that we are reminded of their resilience and ability to adapt to new situations. It has been wonderful to join their live sessions and see how excited they are to connect with their peers online. Remote learning can be challenging for our younger students and we appreciate the time and effort you have given to support them. Thank you. We appreciate you.
Our Kindergarten Live Assembly has been such a great way to connect with our community every Sunday at 8:15am. This session enables us to come together as a community and celebrate the wonderful things happening here at GAA. Poppy the Parrot, our KG mascot, has been ‘popping’ into live sessions and giving out Principled Panda badges to students demonstrating that Learner Profile trait.
As I look ahead to the coming weeks with National Day and Winter break coming up, I take this time to reflect on the progress and goals students have achieved since they started their journey with us in September. Below are just some highlights of their self-expression and creativity. I look forward to the next few weeks and what is to come.
Thank you for your continued support.
Warmest regards,
Niamh Callanan
KG Vice Principal
KG1 B is looking forward to listening to more stories from our guest story tellers: Mr. Rinaldo and Mr. Mike when they return to school.
Hello from KG1E! We have had an exciting 2 weeks learning both in school and at home! We had World Kindness and GAA Spirit Dress Down Days which we incorporated into our Literacy and Math art. As part of our Unit of Inquiry ‘Who We Are’ we have been exploring what we like. We made a class graph of our favorite foods and saw which food was most popular. We were so excited to open our writing center and have been experimenting with different writing tools and starting to write our names. As we moved to Distance Learning last week, we continued to learn on live sessions and on Seesaw. We had to remember to practice our good choices and be Principled Pandas. Have a look at our pictures below!
KG2 have adapted beautifully to being online students. They come to their Live sessions each day, eagerly share their exciting stories with their friends and are so focused when the teacher asks them to collaborate on a shared project. Even though we aren’t in the same building, we are still a team!

We can all agree that this year is very unique and our lives are very different than before.
The 2020/2021 yearbook will have a very personal feel to it and will capture the craziness of this school year.
Due to safety restrictions and considering that number of our students are still on full distance learning, we will not have Stu Williamson take student formal photos at school this year. In case things change, we may schedule the photoshoot for March 2021.
This is where we need our Parents and Students' help:
For KG/Elementary, we ask that parents send a recent picture of their child doing anything they like, eating, playing, exercising... clear face and good lighting.
For MS/HS, we ask that students send us a selfie, that can be funny but appropriate.
Homeroom and advisory teachers will reach out to their students/parents shortly with details. We hope to get the photos before the Winter Break.
Let's make a delicious lemonade out of the lemons, so generously given by 2020!
For the past two years, the upper elementary students have participated in Dance for Kindness. This has been a wonderful event to promote a kindness culture at our school that coincides with World Kindness Day. This year KG and Elementary celebrated on Sunday, November 8 (A day students), and Monday, November 9 (B day students).
Here is the video with highlights:
November 25-26: KG and Elementary Dress Down Day. Theme: UAE National Day Celebration
November 26: Half-Day. School dismisses at 12. Secondary Dress Down Day. Theme: UAE National Day Celebration
December 1-3: Commemoration Day and National Day: NO SCHOOL
December 10: Half-Day. School dismisses at 12:00.
December 13 - January 2: Winter Break
January 3: School Resumes
