This is a paid part-time position with a pay-rate of $18.06/hr for up to 10 hours per week. Hours are not guaranteed and may vary from week to week.
You will be asked to track the hours you work, whether this is completing coursework, assignments, viewing training videos, coaching, etc. and submit a timesheet to be paid biweekly (every 2 weeks).

Unfortunately not. We require trainees and coaches to join all activities over Zoom with cameras on, ready to fully engage and participate.
This is up to you! Many of our trainees/coaches have other jobs and life responsibilities. However, it's important that you take care of yourself and keep a manageable schedule. Think about how much time and effort STAND Coaching will be in addition to school, work, and life.

We do our best, but we may not be able to accommodate you if you have a strict schedule outside of this program.
As long as you are enrolled at ELAC as of January 17, 2023, you are eligible to apply. In fact, some of our coaches who were community college students ended up transferring to UCLA!

Trainees/coaches must adhere to the UC COVID-19 Vaccination Program Policy by providing proof of Full Vaccination or submitting a request for Exception or Deferral (see https://covid-19.ucla.edu/information-for-staff/ for more information).
We understand if things change and you are no longer able to continue. You may stop participating at any time, but since spots are limited, please apply only if you are available:
5-10 hours per week from March 27, 2023 to August 14, 2023 for the Foundational Training program
~5 hours per week from September 2023 through June 2024 to provide coaching
This is evaluated on a case-by-case basis depending on each person’s specific circumstances and the program’s needs. While a spot is not guaranteed, we will try to accommodate your circumstances so you can continue training.
Sadly, trainees who do not meet the certification requirement at the end of training program, end their contract with the STAND program.
This is a paid position and it is not eligible for course credit at ELAC or UCLA.
No, the STAND certification is specific to UCLA STAND programs. Some coaches have gone on to support other STAND programs at UCLA. However, the skills you learn are most definitely transferable!
We do not ask about your personal history or whether you are seeking mental health services.
The only exception is STAND at ELAC. To become a coach, you have to either 1) already completed your program as a participant, or 2) be aware you are not eligible for services in the future.
If you are currently enrolled in any of the STAND at ELAC treatment programs and interested in applying for the training program, it is recommended you DO NOT withdraw from your treatment. You may apply to the training program and we’ll evaluate each applicant on a case-by-case basis. Please be advised you cannot be enrolled in STAND treatment services AND in the STAND training program at the same time.
