Formed in 2024, the LA Urban Soil Social Impact Collaborative is a partnership between community and university partners to advance a co-produced model for healthy soil in the region. Partners participated in a series of organized meetings to discuss the root causes and consequences of urban soil in the LA region, identify and prioritize soil issues pertinent to their communities, and finally, to articulate a theory of change to advance the goal of equitable access to healthy soil. Through this process, we identified a set of initiatives that we wanted to implement in order to address the challenge of urban soil for the region, which are:
Soil Testing
Soil Banking
Bioremediation
Soil Advocacy
