You must have at least two blocks of 3.5 to 4 hours of availability in your weekly schedule.
You must also attend BPS 400 (7:00-8:30pm on occasional Mondays).
The internship requires 45 hours of onsite work per academic credit, in addition to attending and completing the BPS 400 course. Most internships are for 1 credit.
You will be administratively registered for BPS 400 after your placement is confirmed following your placement interview (see below).
BPS 400 is designed to guide students’ professional development as they navigate an increasingly intercultural workplace with special attention to local and global forces that shape evolving workplace practices. It will equip students with the practical skills needed to thrive in a globalized world of work, focusing on applied skills and analytical reflection.
The level of Spanish required depends on the placement, but you must have at least an intermediate level (above SPA 201).
Students are only eligible for internships in fields where they have an academic or professional background.
Internships are not guaranteed. Placements are dependent upon the availability of suitable positions and on the student's success in an interview conducted by the placement host.
Internships are unpaid.
No absences from the work site are allowed without a valid reason. You are expected to always demonstrate a professional attitude and behavior.
All internships are for academic credit and will be graded with a letter grade.
