CONFIRM your intended schedule using the following materials:

• Your completed Course Preference Form (in the email you entered when completing it)

• Updated Schedule of Classes and Course Timetable

• DO NOT SELECT COURSES THAT MEET AT THE SAME TIME  

• MySlice will not allow you to register for two courses that meet at the same time. You will receive an error message! Select one of the two.

• CHECK PREREQUISITES in course descriptions

  • • Some courses are restricted to students who have had prior course experience. Be sure you have met any prerequisites for a course you plan to take. 

    • If you do not meet a prerequisite, you should not register for the course during online registration (enrollment priority goes to students who meet the prerequisite). Syracuse Abroad reserves the right to drop a student from any course for which they are deemed ineligible based on the transcript information available to us. 

    • If the system blocks you from a course during online registration for not meeting a prerequisite and you believe you have the necessary background, email cjenn101@syr.edu with supporting information and documentation demonstrating how you are eligible for this course.

    • Enroll in an alternative class during online registration if needed to meet the 12 credit minimum.

    • Following review and if there are open seats in the course, students without the prerequisite may be allowed to enroll with permission from Syracuse Abroad. 

DO NOT USE Class Search, Schedule Builder, or My Planner!

• You cannot use Class Search, Schedule Builder, or My Planner for London classes since abroad classes do not appear in the MySlice searchable database.

KNOW your NetID and log-in password prior to your registration appointment 

• You will need these to access MySlice for course registration.

• If you have not used MySlice before, not yet activated your account, or have forgotten your password, you can set up a new account or reset your password at IT Services Self-Serv. You must complete this task at least 24 hours before registration!

• You’ll need your SUID number to activate your NetID.

• • Visiting Students: Find your SUID number in OrangeAbroad.

• Your NetID is the series of characters that precedes @syr.edu in your SU email account.

IE: my email is cjenn101@syr.edu and my NetID is cjenn101.

VERIFY your contact information in MySlice.

• Log into MySlice. Periodically the system will require you to verify information. Update any contact information that may have changed!

• Once you select any of the links in Student Services you will automatically be forwarded to any items that must be completed before you can proceed. 

• You may also have to acknowledge that you have read a summary of SU’s Academic Integrity expectations. 

CHECK for holds - these will prevent you from registering

• Log into MySlice using your NetID and password.

• Go to Student Home > Holds tile to make sure there are NO holds on your account. 

• If you DO have a hold, click on the hold for details of which office to contact to resolve the hold. Our office is NOT able to lift a hold! 

REQUEST a higher Credit Limit if you need to

During online registration, MySlice will not allow you to register for more than 17 credits of courses abroad. If you attempt to, you will receive the error message “Maximum term student unit load exceeded.” If you need to register for more than this typical course load, email Christi Jennings as soon as possible (if you haven't already done so). 

DON'T BOOK personal travel yet!

Wait to plan personal travel until after you get to London and know when you may be required to take part in any class-related study tours, all-program trips, make-up classes, exam periods, and other academic commitments.
