You will soon have an opportunity to make changes to your schedule!
Online Schedule Adjustment is part of a separate registration appointment beginning:
Thursday, August 14 at noon eastern US time.
KEEP IN MIND:
We suggest that you discuss any potential changes with your advisor before making them.
All classes have an enrollment cap; you will only be able to add a class that has space available.
Do not contact professors prior to the semester starting to request that they add you to their course!
If you want to add a class that is currently full (closed), you should check frequently throughout the schedule adjustment period in case a seat opens up, through the first week of classes in London.
You must maintain a registration of at least 12 credits taken abroad (not including the 3-credit optional signature seminar).
Holds will prevent actions in MySlice. Resolve any holds you have with the office that has placed the hold in advance.
Once you drop a class, the seat is open to another student. Keep this in mind as you may not be able to get into the class again if you change your mind! Swapping classes is highly recommended if given the opportunity to add a class that becomes available.
Course fees for some classes have already been used to make class related purchases and, as such, spent funds will not be refunded if you request to drop the course. These courses, indicated with an *, will require admin assistance to process.
You will receive an academic calendar for your semester abroad from the London Center, posted for all students in Blackboard, which includes academic dates and deadlines that differ from main campus. Some classes may have different deadlines, but most of your London classes will have the same deadline for adding, dropping, electing a pass/fail grade option, religious notification and withdrawal.
Students interested in updating the prefix of a cross-listed course will be given instructions during Orientation and will complete the process once in London (processed after the Add Deadline).
SU students will continue to receive main campus emails which can be confusing, especially when it comes to academic dates and deadlines. Remember to follow the information provided by Syracuse Abroad and reach out if you have any questions for the fall semester!
Any and all changes to courses offered, scheduled days and/or times and restrictions will be noted on the Schedule of Classes and reflected in the Timetable.
RESTRICTIONS:
Syracuse undergraduate tuition covers up to 19 credits, so you may not exceed this cap. Syracuse Abroad registration is capped at 17 (unless previously raised to 19), and requires a 12 credit minimum of courses during the semester in London. You may have to "swap" due to this system limitation!
For any courses you intend to DROP, please read the additional restrictions in the Drop Deadline section below.
Some classes continue to be open only to students admitted to Special Programs or majors.
Other classes are restricted to in-person registration once all students are in London.
Review the Schedule of Classes for this info!
The Add Deadline:
After the Add deadline of Sept 8 at 11:59 PM GMT (London time!), MySlice will not allow you to select new class(es). This means the add and swap functions will no longer be available.
The Drop Deadline:
September 9 through September 22: DROP ONLY - through the Drop deadline of September 22 at 11:59 PM London time, with these exceptions:
No student may drop below 12 credits of London courses (not including Signature Seminar).
No student may drop CAS 200.1 Mapping London, required of all students.
Students in Special Programs may not drop the courses associated with their special program.
You are encouraged to review any plans to drop a class
with your academic advisor IN ADVANCE
to ensure you will stay on track for graduation.
September 22 is also the Grading Option for electing pass/fail instead of a letter grade, requested the same way as main campus... in MySlice and then approved/denied by your academic advisor. The deadline is FIRM! Please reach out to them for more information prior to this deadline. Interested visiting students should reach out to their home campus to inquire whether pass/fail is an option while studying abroad. Review the Academic Policy if interested.
