Title I Information

Title I General Information

What is Title I?

Title 1 is a federally funded program designed to give students help in reading and/or math based upon the recommendations of the classroom teacher and performance on standardized tests or formal assessments.

It involves individual and/or small group help centered around student needs.  The opportunity for additional instruction increases the child’s ability to succeed in reading and/or math and helps the child “make the connections” in order to move forward.

How will Title I help my child?

The Title 1 program will provide your child with extra educational assistance beyond the regular classroom.

This program generally offers:

* small group or individualized instruction

* extra time for teaching basic skills

*a variety of supplementary teaching methods

If my child is in Title I, how can I help?

Parents are an integral part of the Title 1 program in that the support given by the parent in helping their child is an essential component to student success.

As parents, you can influence the success of your child in school more than any teacher.  By becoming an active participant in the Title parent involvement plan at your school, you will:

*Serve as a role model, showing your child that you support his/her education.

*Assure that you are aware of your child’s educational progress; thereby demonstrating how important that progress is to you.
