Summer Marching Band 2025

Sebeka Marching Band 2025!

It’s hard to believe how fast summer is approaching!  With summer just around the corner it is time to prepare for the Sebeka Marching Band.  Marching band is open and expected of band students currently in grades 6-12.  Every band student is important to the program-so every student should participate.  (Especially since we only march in the Sebeka, Menahga, Valleyfair, and Nimrod parades.)  The reason for this is to keep costs low, commitment up, and to support our own local communities.  The larger we are the better, because it takes more air to push sound outside.  Notice: All members will need to provide sunglasses, white socks, Khaki (Tan) shorts, and tennis shoes, and the band shirt.  The Sebeka Band shirts can be purchased from the school for $10 and students will be able to keep them and use them for other band functions.  To attend Valleyfair you need to be a part of the other parades.  In return you will only have to pay an admission fee of $35.  The rest will be picked up by Valleyfair, and the school provides the transportation.   

At this time everyone should be practicing the music.  If you haven’t received a copy please see me ASAP. You should have Land of 1,000 Dances music memorized by the middle of May.  Memorization is necessary to keep our lines straight and to not run into each other.  Practice while marking time!  (Start with your left foot!)

We realize that sometimes there are conflicts with scheduling.  Everyone should try their best to participate fully at all events and practices.  However, if there is a conflict, please communicate with me in advance (preferably by email), so I can properly plan for each event and make adjustments.  Everyone is important to the success and positive representation of our communities. Parade Schedule:

Saturday, June 28th meet in Sebeka at 5:00 p.m. (Red Eye River Days 6:00 p.m.)

Saturday, July 12th meet in Sebeka at 5:30 p.m. or Menahga at 6:00 p.m. (Mid-Summer 7:00 p.m.)

Tuesday, July 29th meet in Sebeka at 6:00 a.m.-11:00 p.m. (Valleyfair Parade)

Saturday, August 30th meet in Sebeka at 10:30 a.m. or Nimrod at 11:00 a.m. (Jubilee Parade 12:00 noon)
