Thursday: Read from The Trianle Factory Fire, dicuss text structure, paraphrasing and vocabulary. Analyze the Text #2,3 & 5. 

Friday: Collaborate and Compare.

Week Five: April 22nd - 26th

Monday: Finishing up movie.  Two handouts to complete. 

Tuesday: Get Ready and Read: Craig Kielberger reflects on working towards peace (essay). Analyze the text #1-5.

Wednesday: Sharing of Symbolism projects. Discussion on yeseterday's assignment, review objective/subjective. Watch Documentary of essay.

Thursday - Friday: Creating "cliques" in groups - what makes a group a clique or gang, pre-reading activity for "The Outsiders"? Discussion. 

Week Seven: March 4th - 8th

Monday: Journal. Get Ready: Set a purpose, organizational patterns and vocabulary. Read Informative text: "It's Not Just a Game!" Check for Understanding. Begin Analyze the text #1-4 and Research.

Week Four: February 12th - 16th

Week Ten: January 15th - 19th

Monday:  Writable: MLK. Persuasive Media - introduce/review techniques. Watch "from Trash Talk" video and take a look at the handout "You're Part of the Solution". Do Analyze the Media #1-5.

Tuesday: Working on media presentation.

Wednesday: Working on presentations - plan our speaking part to the class.

Monday: Growth Measurement - winter assessment. 

Tuesday: Read poems.  Ode to Enchanted Night and Sleeping in the Forest. Read and do Analyze the text #1 and Research. 

Wednesday: Collaborate and Compare poems - Poetic elements chart and Analyze #1-4. 

Thursday: Writable - writing and Ode. Time to complete yesterday's assignment. 

Friday: Quiz on poems - in groups. Writable, 4th hour.

Week Eight: January 1st - 5th

Monday: No School - Happy New Year! 

Tuesday: Get Ready: The Drought. Review poetry terms and sonnet form. Read poem and check for Understanding. Analyze the Text #1 & 5. 

Wednesday: Writiable: Writing our own sonnet - following the form.

Week Seven: December 18th - 22nd

Monday: Finish up watching the film version of "A Christmas Carol". Start the Ugly Sweater activity.

Tuesday: Working on our Ugly sweaters - symbolism. Selling techniques and plans.

Wednesday: Sharing our sweaters and using appeals to "sell" them to our peers.

Week Six: December 11th - 15th

Monday: Final quiz on play. Discussion. Handouts #12 and #16 - concepts from the play. ***Midterms will be posted - with these assignments as the last grade entered.

Monday: Introduction to "A Christmas Carol: Scrooge and Marley" - read handout on workhouses. Discussion and complete Graphic Organizer.

Tuesday: SSR. Elements of a Drama presentation. Begin Reading the play. Students will have parts, and participate in discussions throughout the reading of the play.

Thursday:  SSR. Post-reading Act I assignment and quiz (GC).

Week Three: November 20th - 24th

Monday: "Who Stole the Pumpkin Pie?" Close reading activity. Read story, view presentation - taking notes. In your group, solve the mystery.
