Tuesday: Free verse poetry. Get Ready and Read - A Poem for my Librarian, Mrs. Long. Analyze the Text #1,2,5 and research. 

Wednesday: History Writing, vocabulary and Get Ready. Collaborate and Compare, read FrancesPerkins and the Triangle Factory Fire. Analyze the Text #1-5 & Research. Vocabulary as a group. 

Thursday: Read from The Trianle Factory Fire, dicuss text structure, paraphrasing and vocabulary. Analyze the Text #2,3 & 5. 

Friday: Collaborate and Compare.

Week Five: April 22nd - 26th

Monday: Finishing up movie.  Two handouts to complete. 

Tuesday: Get Ready and Read: Craig Kielberger reflects on working towards peace (essay). Analyze the text #1-5.

Wednesday: Sharing of Symbolism projects. Discussion on yeseterday's assignment, review objective/subjective. Watch Documentary of essay. 

Thursday: Analyze the Media #1-5. NoRedInk.

Week Four: April 15th - 19th

Monday: Reading "The Outsiders" chapters 10-12

Week Eight: March 11th - 15th

Monday: Journal. Amigo Brothers guided reading activity.

Wednesday: Journal. Vocabualry for "The Outsiders" chapters 1 & 2.

Thursday - Friday: Creating "cliques" in groups - what makes a group a clique or gang, pre-reading activity for "The Outsiders"? Discussion. 

Week Seven: March 4th - 8th

Monday: Journal. Get Ready: Set a purpose, organizational patterns and vocabulary. Read Informative text: "It's Not Just a Game!" Check for Understanding. Begin Analyze the text #1-4 and Research.

Tuesday: SSR Collaborate and Compare: "from The Crossover" and "Double Doubles". Review metaphor and personification - know the difference. Read The Crossover. Check for Understanding. Analyze the Text #1,3,4 & Research.

Wednesday: Journal. Reading "Double Doubles" poem. Check for Understanding. Analyze the Text #1,2,4, 5 and Research

Week Five: February 19th - 23rd

Week Four: February 12th - 16th

Monday: Journal. Get Ready Collaborate and Compare. Review Rhetorical devices, critical vocabulary and subordinating conjunctions. Read article: "Space Exploration Should be More Science than Fiction". Check for Understanding. 

Tuesday: SSR. Analyze the Text #3, 4 & Research. Vocabulary, top two sections. Read second argument: "Humans Should Stay Home and Let Robots Take to the Stars", check for Understanding. Analyze the Text #3 -5 and Research.

Week Three: February 5th - 9th

Wednesday: Journal. Get Ready: "Seven Minutes of Terror" - elements of video. Watch video, discuss, and check for Understanding. Analyze the text #1,2 & 5 and Research. 

Thursday: SSR. Working on yesterday's assignment. Writable - verbs.

Week Two: Janurary 29th - Feb. 2nd

Monday: Growth Measure assessment. 

Tuesday: Get Ready and Read science fiction: "Dark They Were and Golden Eyed". Analyze the Text #1-5 and Vocabulary. 

Wednesday: Journal. Time to complete yesterday's assignments. Language Conventions: Verb tense, lesson, practice and NRI.

Week One: January 22nd - 26th

Unit 4 introduction. Stream to start. Academic vocabulary. Get Ready: "Martian Metropolis" and reading story. 

Wednesday: Journal #1. Finish reading story from yesterday, summary if needed. Analyze the text #1,2 & 5, language conventions and vocabulary. 

Thursday: NoRedInk - Capitalization 1. Reading contracts for qurater 3. 

Friday:  NoRedInk - Capitalization 2. Time to complete this week's work. Book contracts due.

Quarter Two

Week Ten: January 15th - 19th

Monday:  Writable: MLK. Persuasive Media - introduce/review techniques. Watch "from Trash Talk" video and take a look at the handout "You're Part of the Solution". Do Analyze the Media #1-5.

Tuesday: Working on media presentation.

Wednesday: Working on presentations - plan our speaking part to the class.

Thursday: Presenting and Writable assignment.

Friday: Fastbridge assessments.

Week Nine: January 8th - 12th

Monday: Growth Measurement - winter assessment. 

Tuesday: Read poems.  Ode to Enchanted Night and Sleeping in the Forest. Read and do Analyze the text #1 and Research. 

Wednesday: Collaborate and Compare poems - Poetic elements chart and Analyze #1-4. 

Thursday: Writable - writing and Ode. Time to complete yesterday's assignment. 

Friday: Quiz on poems - in groups. Writable, 4th hour.

Week Eight: January 1st - 5th

Monday: No School - Happy New Year! 

Tuesday: Get Ready: The Drought. Review poetry terms and sonnet form. Read poem and check for Understanding. Analyze the Text #1 & 5. 

Wednesday: Writiable: Writing our own sonnet - following the form. 

Thursday: Get Ready: Allied with Green. Vocabulary review. Read story. Analyze the Text #1-5.

Friday: Vocabulary, two parts. Quiz.

Week Seven: December 18th - 22nd

Monday: Finish up watching the film version of "A Christmas Carol". Start the Ugly Sweater activity.

Tuesday: Working on our Ugly sweaters - symbolism. Selling techniques and plans.

Wednesday: Sharing our sweaters and using appeals to "sell" them to our peers.

Thursday: Holiday Activities.

Week Six: December 11th - 15th

Monday: Final quiz on play. Discussion. Handouts #12 and #16 - concepts from the play. ***Midterms will be posted - with these assignments as the last grade entered.

Thursday: Reading Act II, scene 4. Comprehension check.

Week Four: November 27th - Dec. 1st

Monday: Introduction to "A Christmas Carol: Scrooge and Marley" - read handout on workhouses. Discussion and complete Graphic Organizer.

Tuesday: SSR. Elements of a Drama presentation. Begin Reading the play. Students will have parts, and participate in discussions throughout the reading of the play. 

Wednesday: Continue Act I

Thursday:  SSR. Post-reading Act I assignment and quiz (GC).

Friday: Elements of Drama and Connotation/Denotation assignment. Quizlet Live for review of Act I.

Week Three: November 20th - 24th

Monday: "Who Stole the Pumpkin Pie?" Close reading activity. Read story, view presentation - taking notes. In your group, solve the mystery.

Tuesday: SSR. Solving the mystery - did we get it? Writable: Thanksgiving assignments. Start Thanskgiving Escape room activity.

Tuesday: SSR. Reading article, "Never Retreat", annotate and check for Understanding. Begin assignment: Analyze the Text #1,2 & 4 and Vocab, part one.

Thursday: Get Reay, "Mississippi Solo" - elements of a memoir, critical vocabulary review. Begin reading memoir. Check for Understanding.

Week Eight: October 23rd - 27th

Wednesday: Analyze the Text #1-5 and Vocabulary (top and bottom). Language Conventions, Verb tense.

Friday: Character traits - brainstorm, webs. NRI - verb tense - time to complete.

Week Three: September 18th - 22nd

Monday: "Icarus's Flight" p. 37. Quick start discussion. Poetry elements: notes. Quizlet practice on poetry terms.
