The Scientific Method is a pretty natural process for learning about the world around us. I'm sure you do this all the time.
Let's say you plug your phone in at night to charge. When you wake up, you see the battery is even lower than before. First you'll probably say "why didn't it charge?". Your background knowledge says that something was not plugged in all the way. This follows with your hypothesis "if I plug my phone in all the way, then it will charge. To test it out, you check the plug, the wire, and the outlet to make sure it's all connected. The data you collect will be when the phone starts to charge. If it charges, you conclude that it was the charger. If it does not charge, then you start all over. What is another possible reason why your phone didn't charge? What do you do to find out?
