In the next 20 years I expect the population to continue declining. My rationale for this is the growth rate of -4.5. I also expect there to be more and more elderly dependents in Italy who depend on the ever declining numbers of the working population. My rationale for this is the current working population becoming elderly and depending on the current youth population, which is declining. So, Italy will face difficulties in providing for the elderly people in their country.

Demographic Transition Model

Italy is currently in the stage five of the demographic transition model. This tells me Italy has a declining population and are industrialized. They have a growth rate of -4.5 which shows their declining population, and Italy being second-largest manufacturing industry in Europe proves they are industrialized.
