Greetings Mighty Ducks!
My name is Dia Thao, and I am your child’s school counselor. I am excited to welcome you to Dartmouth—whether you are new to our school community or returning for another great year. We are so glad to have you here, and I hope you all enjoyed a restful and fun summer break.
I wanted to take a moment to share a little about my role at Dartmouth. I visit classrooms every other week to provide guidance lessons for all students, following the Richardson ISD counseling curriculum. I also work with individual students and small groups to support needs such as grief, anxiety, friendships, self-esteem, organization, and many other social-emotional skills.
In addition, I support our 6th-grade students as they prepare for the transition to junior high school, and I coordinate MTSS/RtI meetings and Section 504 services. Throughout the year, I also help plan and coordinate schoolwide programs such as Red Ribbon Week, College Week, Career Day, Kindness Week, and Peer Mediator training. Our Peer Mediators are trained to help classmates work through conflicts and solve problems in a positive way.
I also assist in other areas across campus as needed and enjoy working closely with students, families, and staff. I truly look forward to supporting your child and partnering with you throughout the school year.
As always, please feel free to reach out if you have any questions or concerns.
Warm regards,
Mrs. Thao
