Note: Keep in mind that your students will be able to change their initial passwords, so the description of the student password only applies to their initial password.
Keyboard Shortcuts and Touchpad Tips
The touchpad on the Chromebook can be adjusted to the sensitivity desired. Here are a few tips/tricks for students to adjust the touchpad and utilize keyboard shortcuts:
30 Second Fix
If a Chromebook is acting strangely, the first step is to hold the power button down for 30 second, release, and turn it back on. This often resolves minor problems associated with the machine.
Need Help?
If a Chromebook is broken or not working, please ask the student to take it to the media center for assistance. If it is stolen, please make sure that the theft is reported. Loaners for broken or missing devices are available in the media center.
Expectations
Students are expected to charge their devices at home every night. If your students tell you that their device has run out of battery, do not offer the student the opportunity to charge the device in the classroom. A charged device is a behavior expectation and infractions will result in consequences. Please send the student down to the media center for a loaner. The media center staff will maintain a record of the offense. Here is an example of the Chromebook referral form:
