National History Day

Do you like to History? History day allows students to become the historian and present their findings in a creative and fun way.

After selecting a historical topic that relates to an annual theme, students conduct extensive research by using libraries, archives, museums, and oral history interviews. They analyze and interpret their findings, draw conclusions about the significance of their topics in history, and create final projects to present their work. Students participate in a series of competitions from the local to the national level, where they are evaluated by professional historians and educators. Winners advance in each level of competition concluding at the national competition held in June each year in College Park, Maryland.

This year’s theme, Frontiers in History: People, Places, Ideas, will allow students to research and create final projects as a poster, podcast, website, documentary, historical paper, performance, or exhibit.
