The Mindanao State University-Iligan Institute of Technology (MSU-IIT) is a state university located in the southern part of the Philippines. It is one of the 11 campuses of the Mindanao State University system that has a special mandate of integrating the cultural communities, especially the Muslims and the Lumads, into the mainstream of the nation's socio-cultural and political life by providing them with opportunities for quality and relevant education and skills development for the economic growth of Mindanao, Sulu (Basilan and Tawi-Tawi) and Palawan regions.
Founded in 1968, MSU-IIT is known for its excellence in science and technology and for its commitment to the holistic development of the Filipino youth through research, instruction, and community engagements.
MSU-IIT is a QS 3-star university that offers various academic programs related to science and mathematics, engineering and technology, business, nursing, arts and social sciences, education, and IT-related disciplines.
The university earned the distinction of being among the top 10 universities in the Philippines. It also broke into the top 500 universities in Asia listed by the Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) World University Rankings: 2021 and 2019, and in the 2022 THE Impact Rankings placing in the 801-1000 rank.
It is the only institution in the south which holds the most number of programs certified by the Philippine’s Commission on Higher Education (CHED) as Centers of Excellence (COEs) and Centers of Development (CODs). Its programs also received the Level IV- Accrediting Agency of Chartered Colleges and Universities of the Philippines (AACCUP) status.
MSU-IIT is also a member institution of several international organizations, such as the ASEAN University Network – Southeast Asia, the Engineering Education Development Network (AUN SEEDNet), and the Asia Technological Universities Network. The university’s presence and influence has gone worldwide through the many research collaborations, scientific and cultural exchanges, and academic cooperation with Asian and European universities.
