"BOUNTI FARM"
Bounti Farm. The inspiration for this layout would be my visualizations. When I was a kid, I dreamed of having a simple farm with lots of coconut trees because, in our place, we were introduced to copra as a livelihood since we get some parts of coconut trees from my late grandparents, and I wouldn’t deny the fact that those coconut trees were once our source of living. With that, it led me to have some coconut trees in my farm and add five other varieties of plants that would be essential and would sustain our needs. I have decided to put a corn field on my farm because corn is a type of crop that is versatile, and all of its parts are very useful. Everything on a corn plant is usable. No part of the corn is wasted. The husk of the corn is traditionally used in making tamales (a delicacy). The kernels are ground into food. The stalks become animal food, and the corn silks are used for medicinal teas. The second crop would be the bitter gourd. I decided to put it there because this crop is a warm-season plant and could thrive in hot and humid climates. I think it would be the best place since it faces the sun, and knowing that bitter gourd needs sunlight to thrive, The third crop is the pechay. As with the ampalaya, pechay is a type of plant that thrives in sunlight to grow faster, and of course, it must be paired with proper care and cultivation. Pechay is one of my favorite vegetables, and I would also consider this a reason for having this crop on my farm. For the last two crops, I decided to put tomatoes because the only fruit bearing tree present on my farm is a mango tree, so I added tomatoes since the spot where it is planted has direct access to sunlight, causing it to grow and thrive in sunlight and could bloom, grow strong, and produce a good harvest. Lastly, due to the expensive price of onions here in our country, I have also come to an idea and realization about the role of onions in our dishes. With the higher price of onions, most of us feel that a dish without an onion is somehow tasteless since it gives flavor to our food.
With this, I decided to cultivate some so I can sustain and provide flavor to savory dishes that can be enjoyed either raw or cooked, and to also refrain from buying expensive ones. I also added fishpond since it gives you a relaxing experience. I also included a poultry farm so I could produce eggs and eat chicken when I wanted to. Flowering plants are also present because I love flowers. Cradle under the tree so when you are tired and want some fresh air you can ride the cradle sway and enjoy the view looking around the farm. Lastly, I decided to put my nursery near the house so it would be easy for me to look at it and monitor it from time to time and to make sure it receives careful maintenance. Also, the nursery is able to receive a proper supply of sunlight and is away from pets and other animals. I named my farm Bounti Farm coming from the word Bountifulness which visions to deliver locally grown fruits and vegetables to the market.
