First Semester and Second Semester Journey in Agri-Fishery Arts
"Reaping the Rewards: A Journey from Grass to Bounty"
Technology and Livelihood Education (TLE) is a subject designed to provide students with practical skills and knowledge related to various fields including Agriculture, Home Economics, and Industrial Arts. Gardening is an essential component of TLE curriculum, as it provides students with hands-on experience in cultivating plants and helps them develop practical skills related to agriculture. With that, Let me share to you my journey together with my team in turning an overgrown lot at the back of the PRISM into an Abundant area.
" Preparing the Ground: Starting the First Semester of Agri-Fishery Arts by Clearing the overgrown Lots for Planting."
Clearing the overgrown lots in the scorching heat was no easy task, but it was a labor of unity since I and my groupmates (In photo. Kath,Me, Apple,Threcia and Roe-jean) helping one another in pursuit of creating a flourishing garden. Instead of complaining, we just made jokes to somehow ease the scorching heat of the sun. One thing that I admired in this group is that we work hand in hand to accomplished the given tasks and this serves as an evidence that if you work together, your plants will bloom like your Friendship (Char). Kidding aside, As they said, Working Together Creates a Beautiful and Bountiful Garden.
From Overgrown Wilderness to Flourishing Harvest
"Pag may Itinanim, May Aanihin"
This harvest reminds me and made me realized the power of determination. It is a reminder that when we set our minds on a goal and are willing to put in the necessary effort, we can really reap the rewards of our labor. Just like in real-life situations, try to relate it in gardening, if we are determined enough in nurturing it, we will reap what we sow.
SECOND SEMESTER OF GARDENING JOURNEY
A Continuation of what we have Started...
The start of our Second Semester in TLE 108, We are tasked to prepare our plot because we need to replant another type of plant. Since the Eggplant we have planted from the previous semester already on its vegetative phase, it rapidly grows in size and the stems become sturdier, and the leaves increase in number and size. We make sure that they have enough space from each other, we try to put space on it so it can grow and won't compete from each other. Also, we planted lemon grass and lemon basil around and in the middle of our plot because as being discussed by Sir Jan this will serves as a buffer zone in our Garden. As being taught to us, Buffer zones act as a protective barrier against pests and diseases and by creating a physical separation between different plantings or garden areas, it becomes more challenging for pests and diseases to spread rapidly. This helps in reducing the risk of infestations and allows for targeted pest management practices.
The Process of Planting and Transferring Pechay to The Bigger Plot:
The process of planting and nurturing plants teaches us a valuable lesson about the significance of continuous effort and dedication. In our most available time, after class we always make sure to at least visit it once or twice a week to ensure that it receives enough moisture for optimal growth. Apart from it, we also have to provide support, this includes staking and pruning to guide the plant in its upward and productive journey. Through this process, we gain a profound appreciation for the power of patience and consistency. We learn that nurturing plants is not a one-time task but an ongoing commitment since it requires dedication, observation, and a willingness to adapt our methods as needed.
HARVESTING: AFTER WEEKS OF SINCERE DEDICATION, HARDWORK AND PATIENCE IT WAS ALL WORTH IT <3
The feeling of harvesting the plants that you have diligently planted and nurtured is truly rewarding and fulfilling. It is a moment of great satisfaction and accomplishment, knowing that your hard work has come to SUCCESS. Success is not possible without the effort and help of my team and with that I can say that human collaboration with nature is a testament of sustenance and survival.
"Planting with dedication is sowing the seeds of success and reaping the fruits of fulfillment."
