If it seems like you feel better after getting some fresh air outside- you're right! About 30 minutes of exercise is all it takes to help our bodies make our immune system (our bodies' way of fighting sickness) stronger for the day. Pair that up with the Spring sunshine that provides our body with Vitamin D and a quick break outdoors can really give your body a boost! Remember to drink plenty of water to keep yourself feeling in tip top condition.
Ryan's Creek Trail
This is about a 2 mile walk on flat easy ground. One way to do it is to start on the disc golf course(marked on map) and follow the trail all the way to Daubenspeck family park, where there is also a short trail around the lake. However there are many access and exit points along the trail in parking lots of local businesses. Making it easy to start and stop where you like.
Kenai Beach
Maybe a few weeks away from truly being open. However with the warm weather I would check out the city park above the main parking lot. It has a few short trails that you connect down to the beach once it's clear as well as a basketball court. If you like a challenge start in the main lot, face the back corner with your back to the beach and take either of the two trails going uphill towards the park, you can connect back to the beach on the stairs at the end of the park and it is quite steep.
Kenai River-Centennial Park Trail
This is another trail with a lot of exits and entrances. You can access behind the Soldotna Sports Center or in between the baseball fields and the Visitor Center. I like to start at the visitor center and use the steep staircase bordering the building to access the boardwalk. From there you can walk about 2 miles before you hit the end of the boardwalk.
Where you are!
Where are you spending the day? Do you think there are fun outdoor opportunities nearby? Sometimes our literal backyards are the best place to play! The opportunity for spring time activities has just started. Look around for safe places to ride your bike or skateboard.
