The calendar below lists all the important dates to keep track of throughout the school year, as well as the discussion topics for each month and the standards-based activities. 

SEPTEMBER 

• Standard 1 – Understanding the Profession 

  • How Does My District Work

• Discussion Topic – What's going well in schools? - One good thing, one day at a time: A conversation with Rebecka Peterson/Leveraging AI to enhance learning  (two articles)

• September 2 – Student Ambassador Application deadline

• September 20th – KPBSD Student Enrollment to EdRising Chapters Opens 

• 2024 Educators Rising Conference Breakout Session Proposal Dates Announced 

• September 26 – Student Ambassador Application Closes 

• September 29 – EdRising Alaska Student Officer Application Closes)

• December 2023/January 2024 Discussion Topic – Preparing school and district leaders

OCTOBER 

• Standard 2 – Learning About Students

  • Understanding Bias

• Discussion Topic – Multilingual students, multilingual schools - The translanguaging school, Working alongside students, parents, and families (two articles)

• Monthly Service Project  – Advocacy Month (Write to your senator advocating for teachers and participate in the TeachPlus survey) 

• October 9 – 2023-24 Ambassadors Announced

NOVEMBER 

• Standard 3 – Building Content Knowledge

  • Importance of Content Knowledge

• Discussion Topic –  Mental health in schools

• Monthly Service Project – Volunteer as a chapter in a local soup kitchen/food pantry or at a veteran's event

• November 1 – Fall membership deadline

• November 13 – Call for 2024 Educators Rising Conference Breakout Session Proposals Open

DECEMBER/JANUARY 

• Standard 4 – Engaging in Responsive Planning

  • Designing Single Lessons and Lesson Sequences

• Discussion Topic – Preparing schools and district leaders

• Monthly Service Project (December) – Toy donation drive for children in underrepresented communities)

• Monthly Service Project (January) – Host a hygiene drive to donate to a local homeless shelter/advocacy center 

• January 2 – Scholarship Applications Open

• January 2 – Student Officer Applications Open

• January 6 – 2024 Call for Educators Rising Conference Breakout Session Proposals Deadline

FEBRUARY 

• Standard 5 – Implementing Instruction

  • Integrating Technology into Instruction

• Discussion Topic – Motivation and engagement

• Monthly Service Project – Send nice cards to local nursing homes

• February 1 – Early Bird Registration for 2024 Educators Rising Conference and Competitions Open

• February 1 – Spring membership enrollment deadline

• February 5-9 – Educators Rising Week

• February 12 – Honor Society Opens

• February 15 – National membership payment deadline (all checks must be received at the national office and credit card payments made by this date)

• February 26 – Student Officer Application deadline

MARCH

  • Selecting and Designing Formal Assessments

• Monthly Service Project – Book Drive and donate to school/non-profit organizations

APRIL 

• Standard 7 – Engaging in Reflective Practice

• April 2 – Scholarship Application deadline

• April 8 – Early Bird Registration for 2024 Educators Rising Conference deadline

MAY

JUNE 

• June 28-July 1 – 2024 Educators Rising National Conference in Washington DC
