AT STERLING ELEMENTARY, WE PRACTICE THE EXERCISES AND AEROBIC TEST ALL YEAR LONG.

TWO TIMES EACH YEAR WE TEST.

4TH, 5TH AND 6TH GRADERS WILL RECORD THEIR SCORES AND KEEP THEM ON A CARD THAT STAYS AT THE SCHOOL UNTIL THEY GRADUATE 6TH GRADE.

KINDER, 1ST, 2ND AND 3RD GRADERS DO MOCK TEST AND 3RD GRADERS RECORD THEIR SCORES IN ORDER TO PRACTICE. THESE SCORES GO HOME WITH THEM AT THE END OF THEIR 3RD GRADE YEAR.

AT THE END OF THIS WEBPAGE YOU WILL FIND INFORMATION ON OUR S.M.A.R.T GOALS. EVERY STUDENT SETS A S.M.A.R.T GOAL FOR EACH CATAGORY. THE GOAL IS SPECIFIC, MEASURABLE, ATTAINABLE, REALISTIC AND HAS A TIME SET FOR BEING REACHED.

YOUR STUDENT WILL WORK TOWARDS THAT GOAL ALL YEAR.

STUDENTS DO NOT COMPETE AGAINST EACH OTHER AND THERE IS NO MEDAL FOR THE BEST OR FASTEST.

ALL STUDENTS DO WORK TO ACHEIVE THEIR PERSONAL BEST!

HERE IS HOW TO DO A PROPER SQUAT. BODY ALIGNMENT IS VERY IMPORTANT SO YOU DO NOT GET INJURED.

SIT AND REACH:

  • Remove your shoes and sit on a flat surface

  • Extended the legs in front of the body with toes pointing up

  • Place the feet flat against the bottom of a flat surface

  • Put a ruler on the ground between your legs or the top of the step

  • Place one hand on top of the other, then reach forward

  • The furthers point you can reach without bouncing is your sit and reach measurement
