What is Natural Hair Braiding?
The Natural Hair Braiding major provides students with the knowledge and techniques associated with natural hair structure. History, computer science skills (to attract underrepresented populations to computer science), and employability skills are integrated throughout the content to equip students with the skills needed to successfully face challenges of the workplace. A required culminating activity for the hair braiding course is a one-day six-hour course that covers disorders and diseases of the scalp, sanitation and sterilization, policies and procedures, and the SC Board of Barber Examiners statutes, regulations which leads to the South Carolina Hair Braiding Registration industry-recognized credential. Students will demonstrate advanced natural hair braiding technical skills by competing in district, state, and national competitions. Participation in the SkillsUSA Career and Technical Student Organization provides opportunities to develop and maintain leadership skills.

Natural Hair Braiding 1
This Natural Hair Braiding project-based elective course provides students with the knowledge and skills to demonstrate knowledge and techniques associated with hair structure. History and computer science skills are integrated in the course content. A culminating activity for the hair braiding course is a one-day six-hour course that covers disorders and diseases of the scalp, sanitation and sterilization, policies and procedures, and the SC Board of Barber Examiners statutes, regulations, and an opportunity to earn the South Carolina Hair Braiding Registration. Integrating Twenty-first (21st) Century skills in the lessons equip students with the employability skills needed to successfully face challenges of the workplace. Students will demonstrate hair braiding technical skills by competing in district, state, and national competitions.
Natural Hair Braiding 2
In Natural Hair Braiding 2, students will focus on intricate braiding patterns, experimenting with diverse hair textures, incorporating advanced techniques like feed in braids, knotless braids, and decorative elements, refining their client consultation skills, and exploring specialized braiding styles for specific occasions to further develop their expertise in the field.

Accounting I
Accounting 1 introduces accounting for business and personal use, and serves as a foundation for business ownership opportunities, employment, and post-secondary studies in all areas of business. Topics covered include the accounting cycle, cash control, payroll, financial statements, and the use of automated accounting and electronic spreadsheet software.
Entrepreneurship
Entrepreneurship is designed to provide students with the knowledge and skills needed to develop an effective business plan for small business ownership. An important part of the course will be the incorporation of economics, ethics, legal aspects, logistics, research, staffing, strategies for financing, and technology.
Fundamentals of Computing
Fundamentals of Computing is designed to introduce students to the field of computer science through an exploration of a variety of computing topics. Through creativity and innovation, students will use critical thinking and problem-solving skills to implement projects that are relevant to students’ lives. They will create a variety of computational artifacts through individual and team projects. Students will gain a fundamental understanding of the operation of computers, programming, web design, computational data, physical computing, machine learning, societal and ethical issues of computing. Students will also be introduced to computing careers and how computing is an essential supporting aspect of all other career fields.
Fundamentals of Web Page Design and Development
Fundamentals of Web Page Design will guide students in the development of websites in a project-based, problem-solving environment. Students will learn the industry standard languages, HTML and CSS, which are used in every website on the web today. Students will learn how to create a portfolio of content-rich, well-styled websites. Successful completion of this course will prepare students for industry certification.
