Dad's Boots

Overall I am really happy with how this drawing came out. I like all the color and feel like this style is the natural progression of my art. It takes into account my love of realistic charcoal drawings, oil pastel, and abstraction similar to the Polish artists.
It also goes with my theme of family from last semester, considering it is a drawing of my dads shoes. It also has to do with memory and photography, because of my pattern of taking pictures of random things. My handprint also relates to both of these themes in last semester- of presences found in the everyday objects and places we frequent. "Seeing" or feeling something there. In my artist statement, I wrote, "I want to portray the ways in which our previous selves, passed relatives, and memories are intertwined with who we are today and coexist in the same spaces we occupy. By sharing my own memories, I hope to offer others time and space to reflect on how they can translate this same way of thinking onto their own experiences." I think this piece begins to relate to this but I'm hoping to bring this into future drawings more blatantly.
